Wine Description
The Story
Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label is one of the most popular and recognisable Champagnes throughout the world. With its distinctive yellow label, Veuve Clicquot is the enduring homage to the great Madame Barbe-Nicole Clicquot. Under Madame Clicquot's guidance, this famous Champagne house became a global phenomenon and a continued success story. A Champagne from the fuller-bodied school with flavours of buttered toast, brioche and biscuit to complement the ever present fine acidity and flavour length that is a trademark. A wonderful celebration Champagne, yet also at home when paired with freshly shucked oysters and ceviches.
Wine Information
The Cuvée
Grapes from 50 to 60 different crus, or growing areas, are used to produce the Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label :
50 to 55% Pinot Noir ensures the structure so typical of the House wines.
15 to 20% Pinot Meunier rounds out the blend.
28 à 33% Chardonnay provides the elegance and sophistication essential to a perfectly balanced wine.
A high proportion of priceless reserve wines (between 25% and 40%) ensures the continuity of the House style.
Yellow Label
The strength of this golden-yellow wine is immediately pleasing to the nose while its complexity explodes on the palate. The initial notes of fruit are followed by more discreet aromas of brioche and vanilla when the wine is allowed to age in the bottle. Brut Carte Jaune offers a perfect balance of finesse and forcefulness.
15/20
Bettane & Desseauve 2011
« A round and fairly deep champagne, with a certain suppleness which gives it an almost universal character. Dosage is not noticeable.»
15/20
La Revue des Vins de France - January 2012
« This wine has a structure and flavour that are better than the average bruts from the mainstream wine trade. And yet it is also completely devoid of flabbiness as the "malos" are carried out on pinot grapes harvested on the crunchy side of ripeness.»

Wine Spectator 2011
« Elegant, with a refined lightly creamy mousse. Subtile toast and mineral notes underscore flavors of Gala apple, kumquat, ground ginger and white pepper, with a mouth-watering finish. Drink now though 2015.»
