History

The history of Domaine Laroche starts in 1850 and is closely related to the development of Chablis and its vineyard.

At that time, there is neither legal delimitation of the vineyard, nor growth classification: wine producers have to explore the vineyard to find the best places and, doing so, they are the heirs of the Cistercian monks. Laroche was among these pioneers. One century later, Laroche uses technical innovation to reveal the distinctive profile of its terroirs and their remarkable Chablis personality.

The endless seek for great terroirs has been a landmark for the past 20 years: in Languedoc, Chili and South Africa, the first step of Laroche is always the discovery of exceptional terroirs and setting of state-of-the-art wineries.

Each estate has a full team dedicated for both the vineyard and the winery.

Thierry Bellicaud has been managing Laroche since 2010. He wants the Laroche customers to be fully convinced of the quality of the wines.Grégory Viennois, technical director, makes the link between all Laroche estates but also brings a sense of constant search for improvement in the quality of the wines.

Laroche employs “tâcherons” all year round, each responsible for a given plot of the vineyard. A tâcheron works with the final result as a core aim, and a deep sense for what makes the wine better.

Pruning vine by hand. Tasting berries before harvest. Pressing grapes to get the best of it. Choosing the best barrique at the right moment. Taking care of lees during ageing. Each gesture contributes to elaborating a great wine in which the terroir can shine.

In the vineyard, the aim is always to get the best grape possible using ecological techniques and to harvest ripe grapes.

In the winery, the core task is to ensure that the transformation of grape into wine enables the terroir expression to reveal progressively.

The signature of Laroche encompasses its spirit. This is an invitation to discover wines from all the world: Chablis, South of France, Chili and South Africa.

Laroche can make a promise: See in each wine both an exceptional grape and an amazing terroir. Breathe the vibrant character of the wines. Reveal outstanding emotions through the wines

Laroche is renowned worldwide among the most experienced sommeliers in more than 80 countries.

Winemaking

In Chile and South of Africa, the choice made by Laroche though, was above all driven by its unceasing quest for quality. The wines embody the finesse of the Laroche style, while imparting perfect ripeness for the fruit and rare aromatic complexity.
