History

Founded in 1901 by Don Leoncio Arizu, Bodega Luigi Bosca has a long experience in the national viticulture industry.
The Arizus have always worked in the search for the top expression of the Argentine wine and have been protagonists of the great changes in the national viticulture industry. The pillars on which they have managed to consolidate their experience have been their international expansion, their prestige based on their know-how passed on over the years, and the constant and homogeneous quality of the wines, and a permanent search for excellence through innovation, dynamism, and state-of-the-art technology.

As a tribute to the land and the people of Mendoza, they have devoted for more than 110 years to interpreting the intention of the vine. The passion of four generations of the same family, expressed in the Bodega Luigi Bosca collection, shows the result of an ambitious effort which was planned more than a century ago: the desire of expressing the finest paradigm of the very essence of Argentine wine.

The permanent innovation and the spirit of labour, which have always been a trademark of the Arizus, have gained an international prestige for the winery, based on a collection of wines with personality and particular style, expressing the best characteristics of the terroir and representing the style of the region, the culture and its people.
Furthermore, Bodega Luigi Bosca actively cooperated in founding the first CDO in Argentina, in 1989: the Controlled Denomination of Origin Luján de Cuyo.

The future of Bodega Luigi Bosca is a challenge and the present goes by in the combination of daily work with the development of new ideas, thinking ahead, facing the future. That is the company, that is the conception of the Arizu Family, and that is how the history begins for them every day; the past is always the foreword to the next chapter.

The winery annually exports to 50 countries: the United States, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom are the most remarkable. Its wines are present in the most exclusive sites across the world and aboard the most renowned international airlines, such as American Airlines, Cathy Pacific Airways, Swiss International Airlines, Finnair Airlines and Aeroflot Russian Airlines.
It currently exports 60% of its production, while maintaining a leading position in the premium segment of the local market.

Vineyards

Bodega Luigi Bosca has seven vineyards of their own in the province of Mendoza, located between 1,150 and 780 meters above sea level (m.a.s.l.), whose vineyards are watered with pure meltwater coming down from the Mountain Range. Their phytosanitary health is the best.

The different varieties planted in these vineyards were brought from Europe during the last decade of the XIX century. Therefore, today’s vines are the result of selection from the best of those old family vineyards that went through a very slow acclimatization process to the lands of Mendoza. During this period, several crossings and changes were favored, strengthening the unique and personal character of these vineyards.

Winemaking

The winery has three stainless-steel crushers with adjustable rollers; one for white grapes and the other two for red grapes. It is also equipped with special chillers used for white grapes and four pneumatic presses, two of which are closed to isolate white grape maceration to preserve their aromas.

It is an area of the winery that contains stainless-steel tanks for white grape fermentation at controlled temperatures and other for red grapes; vault area containing 225 lt. oak casks for the alcoholic and malolactic fermentation of white grapes. The temperature of the tanks, and the winery and vault room temperature, are maintained through state-of-the-art chillers.

This area contains stainless steel tanks with a capacity for more than 2,000,000 liters of wine and epoxy covered pools. Next to it there are French and American oak casks where the ageing of red varietals is made.

There are two independent, isolated and air-conditioned storage facilities that keep a constant temperature of 16º C throughout the year. One of them has a constant 300,000 to 500,000 bottle storage capacity during the year, and the other 20,000 to 30,000 cases of bottled wine to supply local or foreign markets.

The technical aspects of the winemaking process are developed here. It starts with the grape entry to the winery and it ends with the bottling of wine, including fermentation, conservation and ageing. The control and follow-up of every existing wine is done at the laboratory, as well as its bottling and further evolution during storage.
