Year 1972. Bodegas LAN is founded and named after the initials of the 3 provinces in the Rioja Designation of Origin: Logroño (now La Rioja), Álava and Navarra. It is located in the heart of Rioja Alta, which is synonymous with tradition and prestige.
River Ebro, Rioja's most spectacular vineyard, the Viña Lanciano is located in a breathtaking meander of the River Ebro. The vineyard occupies an area of 72 hectares, in which the climate, river and soil endow already exceptional grapes with a unique personality. Vines as old as 60 years are used to make our top-of-the-range wines: Viña Lanciano, Culmen and Lan Edición Limitada.
Our ageing room is a unique setting with a pioneer and completely automated stacking, racking and climate control system. It currently houses a wide range of different types of oak: French, American, Russian and mixed (American oak staves and French oak heads) oak; all carefully selected from the world’s best coopers : Taransaud, Seguin Moreau, Adour, Murua, etc.
