The Wine of the Year 2014, Cueva de la Culpa 2011, is from Valencia

The President expressed his desire that “ the wines from Valencia make the most of their potential as a motivation to drive growth and recognition for Valencia industry.   Valencia, 22 December 2014 - This morning the President of the Generalitat, Alberto Fabra, met with Diego Talavera, Managing Director of Bodegas Murviedro, ranked as the top winery in Valencia in the ranking of the Best 50 Wineries in the World by the World Association of Writers and Journalists of Wines and Spirits.  Diego Talavera was invited by the President to drink a toast with the red Cueva de la Culpa 2011, awarded the prize “ Foods from Spain - Best Wine 2014”, by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment.  The Managing Director of Murviedro was delighted to have received this national recognition for a wine from Valencia made in Requena.
 

Bodegas Murviedro was founded in 1927 as the Spanish subsidiary of the Swiss Schenk Group, one of the leading European companies in the wine sector. The company's philosophy is based on combining the most modern winemaking techniques with grapes from traditional vineyards. The result is wines that meet the highest international quality standards, while maintaining their Spanish character and originality.

Bodegas Murviedro, one of the most important wineries in the Region of Valencia, has set up a new strategic plan with the aim of creating a global brand based don its strong international presence and creating a new international sales network. With this in mind, in September 2007 Diego Talavera joined the project as Sales & Marketing Director.

The whole team is working on the project of creating a new concept of wines for the winery, including the Denomination of Origin in which Murviedro is present (Valencia, Utiel- Requena, Alicante, Rueda, Rioja, Vinos de la Tierra de Castilla and Cava) from a brand-based outlook and with a medium-term vision of implementing a single brand with several product lines.
