History

Cape Point’s wine-maker Duncan Savage understands the distinctions between ordinary and fascinating wines, and he’s not afraid to experiment. Only nine of the 82 acres at Cape Point are planted with red varietals. Duncan’s passion for white wine is clear, with Sauvignon Blanc his main emphasis. As Duncan says, “We’re constantly experimenting in order to attain our goal of being one of the world’s leading wine producers, and at the same time making sure we have loads of fun doing it.” Cape Point’s wines have earned global recognition for their unique and forward thinking character.

Vineyards

As the only wine estate to be positioned on the narrow Cape Peninsula, the confluence of sea breezes from the cold Atlantic Ocean (a mere 1.2 km from our south facing vines) and southeasterly breezes from False Bay create ideal conditions for the slow ripening of grapes required for the creation of premium wines. The vines are planted on decomposed granite and sandstone derived soils.

Annual Production: 8,000 12/750ml cases

Varieties Cultivated: Sauvignon Blanc, Semillion & Chardonnay

Organic/Sustainable/Other Certifications: IPW, Farming for the Future, BWI
