History

The origins of the estate date back to the middle of the 19th century, but it is Amédée Merme who focused on enlarging and structuring the estate in the early 20th century. Accompanied by his son Armand, they seeked to ensure the reputation of the estate in France and beyond by producing quality wines.

In the 1970s, Marie-France Merme continued the work of her father Armand with her husband Henri Perrot-Minot. After the death of Armand, Marie-France and Henri took over the reins of the estate, which takes the name of Perrot-Minot. Together, they continue the tradition of quality and innovation that already prevailed in the two previous generations.

It was in 1993 that their son Christophe Perrot-Minot joined the estate and took over, after having worked as a wine broker for seven years. His previous experiences have brought him a deep and wide knowledge of the profession of winegrower.

The estate currently represents 13 hectares of vines spreading over the greatest terroirs of Morey-Saint-Denis, Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-Saint-Georges.

Vineyards

For several years, Christophe Perrot-Minot favors the use of products approved in organic farming and reduces the doses of conventional products prescribed, thanks to the observation of the weather, the wind, the humidity and the heat. It is also working to recreate a microbial life of its soil and improve its structure by practicing systematic ploughing and winter ridging of the feet.

Guyot pruning is relatively short to limit the release of grapes and allow a good ripening of berries. The practice of leafing and harvesting in green can be useful depending on the vintage to ensure optimum maturity of the fruit.

The harvest is exclusively manual and sorted the first time in the vineyard, then transported in small crates for a second pass on a sorting table. All the grapes are cut in half to check their health and to eliminate all those that are not perfectly ripe.

Depending on the vintage, a proportion of the entire harvest is put in vats. It is transported in small bins, which keeps the lots intact and preserve the expression of the most natural and the fairest possible terroir. The lots are calibrated in order to keep only the millerandage source of the oldest and most authentic vines. The estate is looking for a production of about 25 to 30 hl / ha for the whole production.
