History

Since it was founded in 1822, Morin Père & Fils has preserved local traditions and contributed to the reputation of Burgundy wines, both in France and abroad. Every year, the estate welcomes more than 30,000 visitors, who discover a savoir-faire built up over almost two centuries. Today, the Maison Morin Père & Fils is one of the leading wine merchants in Nuits-Saint-Georges. It is also reputed for its Marc de Bourgogne, which is aged in oak barrels to bring out the best in it.

1822, THE FOUNDING OF A GREAT MAISON
The Maison Morin Père & Fils has been a leading light of Burgundy wine production since it was founded in 1822 by Claude Morin, owner of vineyards in Nuits-Saint-Georges.

THE ORIGINS OF A GREAT NAME
The name Morin comes from the family's Moorish roots. This great name has been part of local history since 1485, when one of the family's ancestors was in charge of salt taxes in Nuits-Saint-Georges.

1849 THE RAILROAD
The arrival of the railroad in Nuits-Saint-Georges in 1849 greatly facilitated the dispatch of Morin Père & Fils wines, both within France and for export.

1934 THE FRATERNITY
Jean Morin was one of the co-founders in 1934 of the famous Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin, the brotherhood of Burgundy wine enthusiasts, alongside Georges Faiveley and Camille Rodier.

1960 THE GENERAL
General Charles de Gaulle had a special liking for the Maison's Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru, which he served during his presidency at official receptions in the Elysée Palace.

1987 A NEW ÉLAN
The maison Morin became part of Boisset La Famille des Grands Vins, one of Burgundy's leading wine groups, in 1987.
