History

Tabalí was one of the first wineries to settle in the Limarí Valley. It´s one of the most promising valleys of the country and it´s located in the North of Chile. The proximity to the Atacama Desert and to the Pacific Ocean, as well as the presence of limestone soils, brings an exceptional and unique terroir, ideal for the production of high quality wines.

Vineyards

Set in the Limarí Valley and like nowhere else en Chile, Tabalí`s vineyards compromise 180hás of very chalky soil, together with clay and stones. The perfect mix of sun and soil to produce wines of great character and minerality-disctintive, assertive, cool-climate Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah and Pinot Noir.

In wine-growing terms, we have done one of the largest and complete study of soils held in Chile, being able to classify, divide and handle separately each of the different places, helped with satellites photos, air images measurements of electric conductivities of the soils and a full physical and chemical description of each one of the 300 calicatas(trial pit) done in the vineyards. This study has given us great information to work better with our plants, varieties and the personality of our wines.

Inside information

The winery was designed and constructed to recall the Molle Culture way of life. This ancient culture of the North of Chile, used to live at the bottom of the ravines to protect themselves from the heat and provide them with water, vegetation and shade. Constructed in the ravine, the winery integrates the stunning landscape and natural surroundings, the steel casks are cut against the hills and their vegetation.

The breadth of space welcomes the work of man and technology to collect broths obtained from a patient vintage wait. Wisely saving until will be the moment to fill the bottles and then the cups of an expectant world. The cellar has a capacity for 1.350.000 liters in stainless Steel plus 2.000 French oak barrels, which add 450.000 liters more.
