News

It is the first Valpolicella Ripasso which has recently celebrated its first 20th anniversary, one of the wines that are most emblematic of the evolution of a winery whose heart and soul for over 50 years have been territory promotion and local grape varieties. We are talking about Zenato's Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore, Ripassa. It has become a sort of "cult" brand on its own in the already rich oenological landscape of Valpolicella, a wine that played a crucial role in the making of the success of Ripasso, a style of wine that has seen an incredible growth on international markets over the years.

History

The Zenato winery was founded in 1960 by Sergio Zenato in the heart of Lugana, in Peschiera del Garda. Soon it was extended in the Valpolicella land, in Sant'Ambrogio, where wines of great tradition like Ripassa and Amarone are produced.
Today, the company continues thanks to the hard work of his wife Carla and his sons Alberto and Nadia, who consolidated and expanded the project begun by Sergio. The company is in constant evolution, but its values are the same as always: the respect of time, the human aspect, the love for the land and care for tradition.

Expanding his horizons into Valpolicella, Zenato was able to continue his work of experimentation. At Costalunga, a 35-hectare estate 300 metres above sea level, the Corvina, Rondinella and Oseleta varieties of grape led to the creation of a wine of great tradition and fame: Amarone. Here too, Ripassa also came into being. This Valpolicella DOC Superiore comes from a selection of the finest Valpolicella “repassed” on the pomace of Amarone.

Vineyards

The vineyards cover 75 hectares in the Zenato estate of S. Cristina in San Benedetto di Lugana, ideal for the Trebbiano di Lugana, and in the Costalunga estate in Valpolicella, the homeland of the famous Amarone Zenato, where the renowned vines Corvina, Rondinella and Oseleta are cultivated.
