The Story

La Grande Année is the Prestige Cuvée of Champagne Bollinger. It is only produced when exceptional quality harvests occur, and is the expression of Bollinger's experience and expertise. More than the illustration of the vintage, La Grande Année is the result of the Bollinger style, of its exceptional terroir and traditional wine making techniques. La Grande Année possesses a beautiful rounded structure and combines rich, complex and intense aromas. These wines express sincere vinosity and intense aromas that depict the conditions of that particular vintage.

Written Notes

In many respects the wine is reminiscent of the critically acclaimed '90 with its exotically rich fruit and a timbre somewhat less masculine than in the more classic vintages. Nor does one find the Krug-like elegance that the '95 displays. But that could very well prove to be compensated for with the fantastically high acidity. A magnificent, powerful wine in all respects, which breathes more and more greatness every time I open a new bottle.

Bottle in excellent condition. Looking yellow and pale. Intense on the nose. The taste is fruity, high in acidity, balanced and medium-bodied. Acidic. Recommended. Impressive. Costs about 100-200€ per bottle. Good value for money.

"Very bold, mature, muscular nose with a strong acidity taste. If anyone likes Bollinger style it is the peak of it. If one doesn't like Bollinger style he will find it a bit over.
The fragrance and the taste lingering in the glass and in the mouth like forever. You just can't have the next wine without interfere by it in ten minutes, not to mention the huge impression it gives you shadow all others.
Very unique wine."
