The Story

Nathalie's winemaker is Marjolaine Maurice De Coninck who is renowned throughout the region and works as an adviser winemaker at other estates in Margaux. Under her dextrous management the first vintage from the re-unified Chateau Labegorce was realeased in 2010.

The vines average 30 years of age but the oldest vines, on a four hectare patch, date from between 1902 and 1950. Harvesting is by hand, and fermentation begins with a short, cold maceration followed by a temperature controlled process. Each parcel of vines is vinified separately. The style of the estate is decidedly feminine, but exhibits great finesse and power.

Written Notes

Nice charming fruit-driven nose. Bursting of red berries. Vibrant, pure and bright. Elegant and finesse driven. Soft tannins and lots of sweet blackberries and cherries plus raw licorice in the finish. Quite long with some chalky notes. Feminine and nicely made, but a bit “simple”. Drinks really well though. 88+p

Dark purple red with violet hue and black centre. Elegant nose with complex approach, ripe fruit, blackcurrants, blackberries and hints of elderberries. In the background elegant flavours reminiscent of toasted oak, vanilla and gingerbread. On the palate well structured with good weight and length. Firm but rather mature tannins in the background.
