Written Notes

Cloudy Bay have made chardy since 1986. These days, they use less oak and less malolactic fermentation. The aim is for more elegance and lightness and they are certainly achieving that. This one has hints of spice with evidence of a smidge of oak that seems to be still integrating. Some attractive, gentle melon and tropical notes. Clean finish and good acidity. Just a bit too young at the moment but should be spot on in about 2 to 3 years. A quality chardy but it does not, nor is it likely to, match the wonderful 2006. 90
