The Story

The company’s flagship wine is Femme de Champagne, first produced in the 1990 vintage. It is a very fine and feminine champagne that gives a great promise of the company’s future quality potential. Carol Duval-Leroy has a passion for gastronomy and this is reflected in her winemaking too. The medium-dry Lady Rosé, for instance, is made to complement desserts and she has even written a 200-recipe cookery book to match her champagnes.

Written Notes

Probably just as potent as the 95, but not as beautiful as things are today. A more grilled, smoky and acid flavour profile. A blend of white flowers and grilled angler fish. Does that sound daft as a description of the flavour of an awesome champagne?

Medium-deep lemon-green colour. Delicate, elegant, fresh nose of herbs, green fruits and flowers. Edium long, light and balanced. Energetic more closed thatn the millesime fro the houyse. Mouthwatering juicy and lively.

Good looking magnum size bottle. Colour is yellow, and looking bright and medium. On the nose it is open, intense and rich. The taste is fresh, firm, vivid and focused. On the palate it is layered and has citrus, toasty, mineral, creamy and white fruits flavours. The finish is long, vibrant and extensive. This wine is sophisticated, excellent and too oxidised for unbiased valuation. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 10-15 years and decant at least 15min before tasting.
