The Story

A fine example of the highly reputed DO Rueda. This cool climate region offers an extended ripening season for the grape contributing to the unique flavours of its berries.

Origin

The grapes are from the zone of Nava del Rey lying at 850 m of altitude.

100% Verdejo

Technical data

Alcohol content: 13%

Acidity: 6 g/L

PH: 3,25

Vinification

2013 was a more challenging vintage for us as the quality was more heterogeneous. We had to be strict with the selection and work the fine lees a bit longer to extract more potential. We also work with must denser than usual to promote a better mouth-feel.

Maceration lasted 2 days. Fermentation took placein tanks under controlled temperature at 18ºC for one week.

We found that we had a good acidity but less aromatic concentration, we overcome this by strict selection at the winery and extending the lees contact to over 6 months.

Written Notes

Showing a fairly deep lemony colour, the wine offers a perfumed nose reminiscent of lemon-tree and pear. Broad and coating palate underlined by a pleasant fragrance reminding of white flowers, exotic fruit like pineapple and a grassy touch. This aromatic complexity together with a refreshing crisp acidity provides a lively citrussy finish. – By Franck Massard, Epicure Wines
