The Story

Vermentino is a centuries-old Mediterranean grape; here on the coast of Tuscany, our Vermentino represents that ancient winemaking tradition. Painstaking attention to vineyard management and extremely gentle winemaking practices yield a Vermentino that is delicate, stylish and well-balanced.
Displaying ultra-crisp, fruity aromas of fresh pear and citrus, our Vermentino is pure joy of living, Italian style.

Wine Information

The 2012-2013 winter began with an unusual rain storm : 400 mm in 2 days on November 11-12. Thanks to efforts in pre- vious years to protect soil with crops during winter and redynamising its biological activity and porosity, we had no major issues and almost no erosion. But the rain didn‘t stop and from October 1st through March 31st we had a total of 1150 mm of rain. A record! Consequently, budbreak was late (April 5).

The risk for mildew pressure and later powdery mildew was very high because the spring was cold and humid, but almost no damages were seen in the vineyard. Finally, when flow- ering began at the end of May, the rain stopped and the temperature went up, guaranteeing an optimal development of the grapes. In general the yield is superior to 2011 and 2012. The summer was hot and dry and the grapes matured around mid-September with a beautiful balance of aromas and acidity.
