Wine Information

Winemaker:
Brian Light

Vineyard:
The Murdoch Hill vineyard stands 512m high in the cool climate Adelaide Hills near the township of Oakbank.
Vine Positioning: A predominately north facing slope, maximizes sunlight and facilitates ripening.
Soil Structure: Sandy loam over medium clay subsoils.
Canopy Management: Vertical Shoot Positioning (VSP), canopy trimming and finger and thumb pruning.

Vintage:
The 2008 season was characterized by much lower than average rainfall and slightly warmer than normal ripening temperatures. A fine effort was made under difficult conditions to closely monitor and manage the vineyard, making sure that the Sauvignon Blanc grapes were harvested at optimal flavour.

Style & Tasting Notes:
This young vibrant wine has a brilliant clear colour and all the distinctive aromatics of a young Sauvignon Blanc – refined grassiness coupled with an abundance of tropical, lychee and gooseberry aromas. The palate shows crisp acidity with genuine varietal flavours and a lively lime finish. A benchmark for a South Australian Sauvignon Blanc. This wine is bottled under screwcap to maintain consistency in each bottle.

Written Notes

Enticing mix of tropical flavours and a herbaceous note with a slight minerally backing. Fresh, plenty of zing and good crunchy acidity at the finish. Good seafood style.
