The only Saint Joseph produced, the 2012 St Joseph Domaine de la Croix des Vignes is another incredible effort from this team. Coming from steep, granite soils and a vineyard located just beside the famed Vignes de Hospice, this beauty knocks it out of the park with its massive minerality, currants, rare beef and tapenade-like aromas and flavors. Ripe, medium to full-bodied, beautifully textured and still lively and elegant, it too will knock your socks off over the coming 15-20 years.
From a 1.5 hectare vineyard in the heart of the Saint-Joseph’s finest terroir, above Mauves and Tournon. This incredibly steep plot faces southwest and is composed of pure granite with the bedrock very close to surface.
25+ year old vines
Low yields of 25 hl/ha
Aged in barrel (20% new)
Expansive aromas of black and blue fruits, smoky minerals, spicecake and floral oils. Alluringly sweet and seamless on the palate, offering an array of dark berry fruit and floral pastille flavors lifted by juicy acidity. Finishes with smooth, harmonious tannins that fold quickly into the wine's plush, spice-accented fruit.
