(Barossa Valley. 12 months in 20% new, 30% 1yr old French oak and 20% new, 30% 1yr old American oak all hogsheads. 14.5% alc. TA 6.2 g/L pH 3.60)
Lots of black pepper and some animal hide though a much more fragrant wine after the Bin 28. Drying tannins again here with little heart. Weedy finish. The prettiness of the Marananga fruit can’t escape the vintage. Still there is a damp rawness to the finish and tannin-over-fruit character here that can’t be hidden behind aromatics.
16.8/20, 89/100. Drink: 2014-2024
