It was next, and despite a lower fill level, the wine showed quite well and was still sound. Ice cream soda, rose, garden, meat, worcestershire, brown sugar and cherry were all in its nose, although B. felt that 'the nose was better than the mouth,' but that proved to be a premature assessment. The palate had flavors of cherry ice cream, earth and brown sugar with a touch of tomato. The alcohol came out and its vigor showed well, and its flavors headed in an autumnal, leathery and earthy direction. However, the wine continued to get better in the glass, getting pinchier and developing citric tang, more texture and spice. The alcohol kept expressing itself more and more.
