Vintage 1999

Australia Vintage Report:1999 also had a dry winter in Australia, with average temperatures for all months. However, there were a considerable amount of drizzly days at harvest time, causing some headaches with varieties susceptible to Botrytis cluster rot, ie. Grenache. It cleared up and the wines produced were all closed and slightly below average intensity. They look better and better.

Written Notes

Good looking normal size bottle. Colour is ruby red, brick red, and looking dark and light. On the nose it is refined and closed. The taste is full, rich, powerful, ripe, fruity, perfumed, warming, with silky tannins, and average in acidity, medium-bodied and with concentrated structure. On the palate it is layered and has mint, herbs, cherry, chocolate and citrus flavours. The finish is long, round, flavorful and a bit too alcoholic .. This wine is wonderful and fine. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 1-5 years and decant at least 1h before tasting.
