The vintage Piper is a blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes which have elegantly mingled to create this deep, complex, fruit-driven champagne, abound with fresh, lively notes of citrus and a clean, zesty finish. The latest vintage offering is lush long and packed with finesse. Be sure to have a bottle or two on hand for the races.
What Piper-Heidsieck has been able to achieve in the past decade or so is nothing short of sensational. Winemaking responsibilities fall in the exceptionally competent hands of Chef de Cave, Régis Camus. Régis, considered a ‘god’ like figure in the region, was crowned Sparkling Winemaker of the year by the International Wine Challenge in 2013 for the eighth time!
This wine confirms its personality in the universe of 2006 vintage champagnes.
Composition : Blend : 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay
Dosage : 7 gr/l
Tasting : Visually : this vintage cuvee has a deep green-gold colour. The thin and discrete bubbles flow into a fine cord. The visual presentation of this vintage is rather calm, serene and moderate.
Nose : the first nose is also understated. After airing, stone fruits emerge with pralin, honey, dried flowers and fern; Aromas that give this vintage intensity and freshness.
Mouth : the attack is both fresh and enveloping. The sensation generated by the effervescence is creamy and perfectly integrated in the wine.
The pleasant acidity is very subtle and the dosage gives a soft and shading structure to the wine. The vinosity is brightened up by spicy aromas of thyme and pepper. The finish is very long and fresh thanks to the hint of acidity.
