This is a 'revamped' release of the Robert Oatley range – actually, they have all manner of ranges. Outside of the RO wines, there is Montrose, Wild Oats and Tik Tok. Then this is the bottom level of the RO collection with three stages above it. Given that, very hard to believe that this collection of half a dozen wines is not only such great value but so good. Pricing seems to sit around the $22 to $24 mark so I’ve dubbed them $23.
Obviously, they have sourced fruit far and wide (and with Larry Cherubino in charge now, nothing but excellence is expected), though interestingly, none of this range is from their home base in Mudgee.
This is a broader style of riesling. A little softer than many. Oatley's have indicated that they have had a very positive response from sauv blanc drinkers and there are some similarities Those wishing to expand their drinking window, could do a lot worse.
Has a nice gentle finish. Pears, a little touch of a nettly note and some florals. Balanced but without the often fierce acidity that riesling can provide
Much of the material is from Frankland River.
