Every reason to suspect that this would be way past its best but not a bit of it.
Shows just how well a good Aussie fizz can age in good conditions (and while on Seppelt, a friend discovered – lord knows how – that leaving a case of Great Western in the garden shed for the best part of a decade actually gave it some pleasing richness. He served it blind and while it was obviously a pleasant Aussie, with broad flavours, it was surprisingly enjoyable. And yes, I know that this should not happen).
Lovely toasty notes here. Has some nice complexity and still bright flavours. There is a hint of candied fruit and a note of truffle. Very attractive.
