St. John’s College Vintage Port 1875 [though it might have been 1881, shipper unknown]
Decanted just before pouring. Peculiar salmon red. Harmonious color from bowl to rim. Superb nose, very alive with great rich fruit. Big nose of old cheddar cheese rhind. Kumquat nose. Very rich and sweet, mouthwatering nose. Palate was hot and spicy. Very big. Massive flavor. Huge impact but a bit fruitless on the finish. Started fading rarely rapidly becoming drier. In the glass it developed more brandy character. ****
