<10 tasting notes
Something I found very interesting when tasting through a lot of these McLaren reds was that the locals often spoke of the red fruits that they could see. No argument that they are evident in some of the wines but for the vast majority of wines, I was seeing a much stronger influence by dark berries and black fruits. Thinking about this, I really think that this is all relative. What they might be seeing as red fruits will fit that category when looking at McLaren Vale wines but in the context of others, might seem much darker berries. None of which impacts on the quality of the wine, of course. Just a thought.
Anyway, for me, rich, full and black fruits. There are a smidge more florals and spice here than with some. Density and concentration. Mocca, coffee grinds, touch of the gamey. Has lovely carry through. Nice soft tannins on the finish and it does linger. Richly flavoured and well balanced. Lovely lick of chocolate on the finish.
