Wine Description
The Story
The wine is crafted by an exceptional technical team, with grapes grown on carefully-selected plots of our vineyard that are ideally suited to producing a dry white wine of real character, recognisably Bordeaux, but marked by the personality of our vineyard.
Le Blanc Sec de Suduiraut is savoury, fresh and ready to drink with pleasure immediately, a worthy addition to the great range of wines from Château Suduiraut. Its bright aromatic expression makes it an ideal wine to be savoured in its youth, earlier than S de Suduiraut.
To produce this wine, we selected a specific plot of Suduiraut vineyard, planted mainly with Semillon vines. Our fine gravel and sandy terroir bring out fruit aromas and a beautiful freshness to the wine.

“At Château Suduiraut, we have fifteen years of experience in making a fine dry white wine in small volumes. Our goal has always been to show that the terroir of a Sauternes Premier Cru Classé is capable of expressing itself in a top-quality dry white wine, as well as in a great Sauternes sweet wine. To meet today’s growing demand for dry white wines of character, and convinced as we are of the quality potential of our Sauternes vineyard, we have decided to create a new wine by the name of Le Blanc Sec de Suduiraut.” – Managing Director Christian Seely
TASTING NOTE
Le Blanc Sec de Suduiraut 2015 reveals a radiant, pale yellow colour with greenish tints. The first nose is enticing with its hints of white fruits, spices and lime blossom, evolving into light oak aromas, almonds and citrus. A clean attack leads into a rounded sensation on the palate, with white fruits and toasted almond flavours, then a lively mineral finish with grapefruit hints.
Vintage 2020
In Bordeaux, the heat led to early flowering. Additionally, this led to an early harvest after a very hot summer. As a starting point, there is great maturity in the grapes, and we can expect a more opulent vintage than in recent years.
This year's summer was the hottest since 1959, but the rain fell at just the right time during the growing season. The harvest took place two weeks before the norm and will produce grapes with high alcohol potential and the lowest acidity since the 2003 vintage. As they say in Bordeaux: “It was a good and extreme growing season which , hopefully, also produces great wines.”
