The Story
The Noble Cuvée embodies all the excellence of this renowned Champagne House. The fruity, grape flavour and freshness so characteristic of this style are admirably conveyed and enhanced by the extreme delicacy of the Chardonnay grape, which is one of the major components of the blends for this Grande Cuvée. Produced from a careful selection of grapes from Grand Crus only, Noble Cuvée is the very essence of the Lanson Style.
One of the oldest champagne house, Lanson was founded in 1760 by Francois Delamotte, a magistrate from the Reims. The values and expertise that created the unique and enduring style of Champagne Lanson have been handed down from generation to generation. Since 1760, this has been the guiding philosophy of the successive generations that have promoted Lanson throughout the world.
Champagne Lanson is one of the few houses in the Champagne region that chooses not to use malolactic fermentation. This decision guarantees the freshness and optimal development of the wines' flavours, allowing vintages to mature fully and evolve their complete array of aromas.
For the Brut, only 10 vintages were selected in the last 30 years. This 2002 embodies the excellence of Champagne Lanson, with the last vintage reminiscent of famous vintages. Perfect with oysters, fish terrine or lobster.

CHAMPAGNE: From this year, the most classic and refined champagnes were produced. Champagnes are long-lived and mature slowly to their peak.
Winter and spring were fairly mild. Inflorescences began in good weather in June. Already during the next month, the cloud masses swarmed to the Champagne province. Finally, the sky broke right before harvest. The harvest remained smaller than in the previous year. Even though the weather was unstable, the vintage produced fine and elegant wines, of which many have just reached their peak. The wines are marked by high acids and a concentrated, precise style. A real classic vintage. There is no rush to enjoy these wines, as they endure storage well and will continue to develop well for the next 10–12 years. Indicative of a slowly maturing vintage is that Krug released to the market first the Clos du Mesnil 1989 vintage before the 1988 vintage. This year has also stayed in mind as the vintage when Jacquesson & Fils produced the first of its three late bottled special cuvées – the Jacquesson DT (Dégorgement Tardif).
