100 Best Champagnes for 2017

- The winner is Moët & Chandon MCIII

Champagne magazine and tastingbook.com select the World’s Best 100 Champagne – The winner is Moët & Chandon MCIII

FINE Champagne magazine, the only international publication devoted to champagne and tastingbook.com, the world’s largest wine information source, announce their list of the ‘100 Best Champagnes for 2017’.

After days of blind-tasting hundreds of champagnes, the final results were tabulated. Any champagne making it into the Top 100 in the rigorous tasting by our editorial board and guest specialists can warmly be recommended. Still, there can only be one winner. This year our choice is Moët & Chandon MCIII NV.

Moët & Chandon’s prestige cuvée since 2015, MCIII is an unforeseen champagne concept bringing Moët’s vast resources and reserve wine treasures to the fore.

The number three in MCIII refers to its various ageing universes: wood, metal and glass. The wines of the latest harvest year (2003 in this case) are fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wood refers to oak vats, where older reserve wines (2002, 2000 and 1998) have aged. The glass, in turn, refers to bottle-matured champagnes that crown the blend (1999, 1998 and 1993). A big proportion of reserve wines and long ageing result in a beautifully mature and complex, generously vinous champagne that develops majestically in the glass.
