Château CLINET is one of the most prestigious estates of the Pomerol wine region, set amongst the finest parcels of this well-known plateau. Located 40km to the east of Bordeaux, on the right bank of the Garonne River, its gravelly clay soil makes Pomerol the terroir of the finest Merlots in the world. The natural resources required to produce the exceptional quality of our grapes, simply cannot be reproduced anywhere else on earth.

Vintage 2017

Bordeaux 2017 - A year of contrast

Life is not fair and neither is nature. As the earth warms, flowering becomes earlier and the risk of frost damage increases. Few winemakers remember the frosts of 1991, but their legacy is still haunting. When meteorologists predicted a cold blast on the nights of April 27 and 28, there was a real sense of panic. Most with the means deployed, candles, wind turbines, helicopters, lit hay, took all the meas...

Written Notes

Good looking normal size bottle and in an perfect condition. Colour is cherry red, and looking clear and deep. On the nose it is intense and seductive. The taste is voluptuous, fruity, and dry, warming, with medium tannin, with silky tannins, and average in acidity, medium-bodied, with balanced structure and developing. On the palate it is layered and has balsamic, blackberry, plum, blueberry, chocolate, new-oak, earthy and mineral flavours. The finish is long and flavorful. This wine is fine. I paid around 50-100€ a bottle. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 10-15 years, decant at least 30min before tasting and this is not a good invest wine. Good value for money. I do recommend.

Ruby. Blueberries, fruity, spices, detailed, blackberries, intense nose, layered. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, blueberries, anise, some spices, detailed, juicy, tight, intense and long. 94-96

Dark purple red with violet hue and almost black core. Clinet goes classic with an expressive nose with ripe fruit reminiscent of blackberries, plums, dark cherries and hints of flowery aroma. Hints of liquorice and roasting aroma in the background. On the palate well balanced with good structure, ripe tannins, freshness and elegance, distinct minerality and excellent length. 96
