The Story

Château Dauzac’s identity is first and foremost that of its contiguous terroir, characterized by a unique soil type and a dominant proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon.

This great wine shows a nicely complex bouquet, which is slowly revealed when aerated. The balance between the richness of the tannins and the aromatic amplitude of the fruit, with a nicely round and supple attack, makes it an archetype of great vins de garde.

The complexity, elegance and minerality of the Cabernet Sauvignon is predominant, complemented by the Merlot, which brings roundness and a smooth texture. A deep red color, Château Dauzac reveals a subtle balance between fruity, flowery and spicy notes and a complex, fleshy mouthfeel; the tannins create great emotion during tasting.

The nose reveals notes of ripe berries, flowers and soft spices. To the mouth, we discover the ample and powerful tannic structure of Château Dauzac, and its strong body. Perfectly balanced, this wine has great potential as a vin de garde. Over the years, it will develop aromatic complexity and incredibly delicate flavors, which are the hallmark of a Grand Cru with character.

Vintage 2022

Bordeaux 2022 vintage will stay in the memory of the world of wine as the exceptional vintage which kept a lot of surprises. The year started well with bud break at a normal date, so the frost in early April did not too much damage. The flowering started in mid-May and in optimal conditions. June brought stormy rains which were able to partially reconstitute de water reserves of the soil, however hail fell locally with sometimes very important damages. The fruit  set took place a hydric limited context, which determines the small size of the berries. Veraison begun in mid-July in hot and dry conditions. August was hot however it kept a contrast of day and night temperatures, therefore the conditions for ripening the grapes were perfect. The white wines were harvested at a historically early date already in August. Also the reds were harvested very early at the beginning of September. Good news for the noble sweet wines: botrytis developed thanks to rain in early October and resulted in wines of great purity.
