This quite large crop was of remarkable quality, so much so that when Friedrich Engels was asked what his idea of happiness was, he replied, "Château Margaux 1848". This wine today still has an unforgettable freshness. Simply wonderful!
The picking began on 21st September and finished on 1st October. Magnificent hot, dry weather.
