Wine Description
The Story
The grapes are grown on two and a half acres of south-sloping volcanic soil at the Hudson Ranch near the Bay in southern Napa Valley. The Kongsgaard Syrah is hailed by Parker as "among the very best Syrahs made in California." He describes the "spectacular 2012" as "a mind blowing, rich, full-bodied, very complex Syrah that seems to broach both the more austere and intellectually complex world of European Syrahs and the ripe opulent, voluptuously textured New World Syrahs." Apologies for the long quote, but it is nice for us to cite a distinguished observer describing exactly what we are trying to achieve. We would add that we enjoy its savory aromas of wild game, smoked meat, and black pepper.
