The Story

Château Le Pin, or simply Le Pin, is an unclassed Bordeaux wine from the appellation Pomerol. There has never been an official classification of Pomerol. Even so, Chateau Le Pin commands prices that put it at levels equal to the best wines of Bordeaux. The unusually small estate is located on the Right Bank of France’s Gironde estuary, and its wine is periodically one of the world's most expensive red wines. Le Pin was the first of the "garage...

Vintage 2022

Bordeaux 2022 vintage will stay in the memory of the world of wine as the exceptional vintage which kept a lot of surprises. The year started well with bud break at a normal date, so the frost in early April did not too much damage. The flowering started in mid-May and in optimal conditions. Written Notes

Le Pin - 100% Merlot, 14.4% alcohol, 29 hl/ha. Violets, black cherries with grated black winter truffle, seamless structure, excellent midpalate, vibrancy, refined and sophisticated. The texture was like a liquid cashmere. Hedonistic effort. 98-100p.

Ruby. Blackberries, liquorice, fruit driven, nuanced, layered nose, bright and nuanced, scented, very pure fruit.
Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, blackberries, detailed, fruit driven, layered, juicy, superb texture, so refined, incredible tannins, such finesse. Long finish, absolutely stunning. One of the stars of the vintage for sure.

Such is the ripeness and richness of the vintage but the wine remains so fresh and balanced. Medium-bodied with subtle and juicy tannins. It's a little fuller-bodied than the perfect 2020 but it is just as weightless and gorgeous. Cashmere texture throughout. Only 65% new wood. 99-100

  • 100p

Intense purple colour with violet hue and black core. Very complex nose with excellent concentration in combination with fragrant fruit and elegant spiciness. Opening up very well in the glass, remaining on a very sophisticated character. On the palate excellent balance and great precision with sweet fruit and perfectly ripe and silky tannins. Discreet spiciness, excellent depth and length with multi-layered finish.
