History

Château Bertrand Braneyre is a unique wine estate in Haut-Médoc, situated between prestige appellations such as Saint-Estèphe and Pauillac (Château Mouton Rothschild, Château Lafite Rothschild…).

Château Bertrand Braneyre has a history that goes back to 1769. In 1993 Ludwig Cooreman acquired Château Vieux Braneyre, now known as Château Bertrand Braneyre after the name of the founder in 1769. Extensive investments in the vineyard — stainless steel tanks, thermoregulation, a second fermentation cellar, etc. – have turned Château Bertrand Braneyre into an established value in the wine world.

Inside information

Having worked in the wine industry in Belgium for over 50 years, Ludwig Cooreman purchased Château Bertrand Braneyre in 1993 on the advice of some oenologist friends familiar with the Cissac terroir, located near the Grands Seigneurs in Pauillac, such as Château Mouton Rothschild and Château Lafitte Rothschild.

He has surrounded himself with Eric Boissenot, the Left Bank’s most respected consulting oenologist (he advises Lafitte Rothschild, Margaux, Palmer…) and Geoffroy Moncany de Saint Aignan, head of production at the château.

His sole aim when he bought the vineyard was to create a Great Wine worthy of his Pauillac neighbours.
