Château de Montguéret

Château de Montguéret is located in Nueil-sur-Layon. Dominating the vineyard, the castle was built in 1880 in the style of Napoleon III, in a combination of Saumur tufa, Angers schist, and Sèvres brick.vThe château has been linked to wine throughout its history. In 1987, André and Dominique Lacheteau took over the running of the Château...They invested substantially in new equipment and thus the château rose from the ashes. Their objective: the respect of terroir.r.

Soils are mainly clay and chalk. The château is most famous for its white wines, producing very expressive Sauvignons, but the red wines are also pleasantly surprising.

The wines from Anjou and Coteaux du Layon are located in three communes on the Layon River: Cléré, Nueil and Passavant. Each have a different soil composition, with various proportions of schist, sand, and chalky-clay, which adapt to all temperatures.

The colder soils bring dominant flowers flavours and the warmer soils give fruity flavours, like exotic fruits and peach.
