WINEMAKING: The 2016 growing season produced high quality yield, it was a relatively warm start to the season, before cooling off to provide optimal long ripening conditions. The 2016 Nebbiolo Fresco is sourced entirely from Longview’s single-vineyard at Macclesfield, Adelaide Hills. Using a combination of three clones 1.1.1. – F12V13 and F12V7, the fruit was hand-picked, then chilled to 10 ̊C. It was then crushed, de-stemmed and underwent cool fermentation on skins for 10 days. This Vino Novello style of wine hasn’t seen any oak and after ferment was settled in stainless steel for 5 months. This vibrant pure style of Nebbiolo should be consumed within 18 to 24 months.
TASTING NOTES: 2016 was a very good year for our Nebbiolo fruit as the season started off very warm, before cooling off to provide optimal ripening conditions. The 2016 Nebbiolo Fresco displays aromas of cherry-cola partnered with savoury spice and florals, such as roses and violets. The palate is refreshing with cherry and strawberry characteristics before finishing with a savoury edge and fine tannins and well balanced acidity.
