The Story

Henri Lurton believes that a great wine should combine structure with elegance and possess great aromatic purity. Château Brane Cantenac’s aromatic qualities have been acknowledged for a great many years. Its bouquet develops over time. The more the wine ages, the greater power it develops.

Brane’s greatest asset is the amazing quality of its historic terroir, because at the end of the day wine is made in the vineyard. This is why Henri L...

Vintage 2015

Full report of Bordeaux 2015 by Andrew Caillard MW “Next in line in a great series of vintages; 2000, 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2015.

2015 is a wonderful Bordeaux vintage without the hype or hysteria associated with 2009 and 2010. The wines are generally expressive and generous with wonderful concentration and structure. Given another year in barrel, the wines should gain more complexity and fruit volume. Châteaux, in all sub-regions, are e...

Written Notes

Deep plum. Nice dark berry fruit with a vanilla edge, blueberry muffin,

this is equally generous but there is an extra touch of persistence on the

toasty finish, excellent result. 91-93/100 2021-2040

Concentrated mixture of dark and red plum, cherry. A lot of complexity in the structure and backbone together with round ripe tannins. Acidity was gradually coming out at the back of the palate which also gave a long finish to the wine. Rich, elegant and very fresh. This is my favourite Brane-Cantenac vintage so far! 94-95+

  • 95p
Dark purple red with violet hue and almost black core. Expressive nose with distinct fruit, blackcurrants and elderberries, juicy blackberries in the background. Very discreet hints of vanilla and slightly toasted oak. On the palate well structured with pure fruit, fine acidity, discreet minerality and spiciness and excellent length.

Deep colour. Spicy, wood varnish, paneforte, dark berry liquorice aromas. Rich and voluminous with dark cherry, cassis, dark plum, paneforte flavours, looseknit chalky textures and balanced mocha oak. Finishes long and sinewy. A touch of alcohol at the finish. Delicious nonetheless. 94 points
