Chalten Wineries wins prize for best Patagonia Malbec at DWWA 13 june, 2011
The Decanter World Wine Awards ceremony was held last May during the London International Wine Fair, and our wine Chalten Malbec Colección 2009 won the award for the best in the category of Patagonia Malbecs and received a Regional Trophy.
This award positions it as the best Malbec in its class from a unique and extreme valley such as Neuquén in Argentine Patagonia. From the area of San Patricio de Chañar, the climate conditions are characterized by cooler nights, which helps to add acidity and natural freshness to the grapes. On the other hand the wind and the dryness, so characteristic of the region, help to produce a healthier grape with less intervention to the vine.
This classic Argentine wine takes on a unique nature in our region. It s great intensity presents itself voluminously, with aromas of preserves and fresh raisins that combine with the typical vanilla and dovetails smoothly with the oak. Its great structure quickly fills the mouth frankly and directly, without leaving any space.
