Written Notes

We go to Ribera del Duero, more specifically to the Aguilera (one of the highest areas of the DO and one of the few where the land consolidation did not reach). The winery was born in 2008, after a great search for the most suitable location, Juan Luis Cañas found true jewels in the area and settled in the area with the aim of transferring the knowledge and concern, to an exceptional land such as Ribera del Duero. An avant-garde winery is created with the latest technology, in order to get the full potential of the centenary vineyards in the area and produce great wines.

Cruz del Pendón 2014 is a recently created wine, made from 100% Tempranillo and comes from vineyards planted 80 years ago, which gives very low yields (1800 Kg/Ha). It is a wine of the vineyard.

Harvested by hand, with a great selection of grapes in the winery and fermented in 7000 kg French oak vats. Subsequent aging of 18 months in French oak barrels of 2 use of 225 and 500 liters. Limited production of about 6000 bottles.

In view is a cherry red color, high layer, clean and bright.

The nose highlights the great concentration of ripe red and black fruit (cherries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries), and floral notes of violet. Aromas of black licorice and scrubland appear. In addition, we can appreciate some black pepper and chocolate. It has a very good intensity and a long finish.

In the mouth it is elegant, silky, and even a bit sweet. An explosion of fruit. With a very remarkable acidity for a Ribera del Duero. Long finish.

A wine that deserves the qualification of Exceptional.
