Historia

The history of the family begins in the XVIIth Century with Thomas Jardin (1647-1717) who understands that the champagne, after the discovery of the effervescence by Dom Perignon in Hautvillers (around 1650) will have beautiful years to come and decides to purchase his first plot.

It’s in Villedommange, today classified as a Premier Cru in the Montagne de Reims region that Simon Jardin ( 1689-1769) becomes the first grower of the family.

Generations after generations the family keeps the tradition of growing and producing champagne. Raoul Jean Marie Jardin receives in 1925 the Chevalier du Mérite Agricole Diploma. Later his own son Marcel Jardin is rewarded  for their work during the Concours Général de Paris in 1933 and then in 1936 at the Exposition Marché aux Vins de la Champagne in Epernay. During the Second World War, he becomes an aerial photographer. His parents and Saint Exupery’s meet at a train station while saying goodbye to their sons going to the front. At the end of the conflict, he receives the Legion d’Honneur for his bravery during the war.

His daughter Micheline marries Gilbert Constant and have a daughter, Claire Marie Constant. Later, she weds a Champagne grower as well, Thierry Grandin who works as a “dégorgeur” before going back to the vineyard. In 1984, he decides to work at La Neuville aux Larris Coopérative, which was founded in 1956 by his father. Since then, he is the president of this 34 hectares cooperative.

Finally his son Pierre joins him after finishing his studies and he now produces his own champagne.

Today house is run by Pierre Grandin and Marion Mordelles.

Pierre Grandin

Pierre is the offspring of many champagne growers' generations. As long as he can remember, he always wished to work for his beloved family estate. That is why he focused his studies on learning all the skills to become a champagne producer. After graduating High Shool with a Degree in Chemistry, he obtained a Viticulture & Oenology Technical Degree in Champagne and later on in Burgundy.

Stepping on his technical degrees, he continued his training with a Bachelor and a MBA in Wine Sales & Marketing at the Bordeaux International Wine Institute. He graduated in 2012 and after gaining experiences in numerous wine regions, he finally immersed himself in the family estate.

In 2019, Pierre and Marion decided to combine their expertise and to launch their own champagnes.

Marion Mordelles

Born in Cognac, Marion has always been attracted to wines and spirits. Curious and passionate about travel, she naturally decided to get a Technical Degree in International Trade, followed by a Bachelor and a MBA in Wine Sales & Marketing at the Bordeaux International Wine Institute, offered by the INSEEC Business School. After five years of apprenticeship in various domains (logistics, transport, sales, marketing and communication), Marion settled in the US to represent French wine negotiants on the American market, before moving back to France to work for a prestigious Champagne House as an Export Manager.

Today Marion lives between France and Scotland, in Glasgow.

Viiniviljelykset

The Vineyard is composed of 14 acres, spread across thirty plots, planted with the three main champagne varietals: Pinot noir, Chardonnay and Meunier. The vines are located on four villages in the Vallée de la Marne and in Villedommange on the Montagne de Reims, Premier Cru. From pruning to harvest, the majority of the work is done by hand. It is hard work but allows us to produce elegant and singular champagnes.

Viinivalmistus

Since 2000, a sustainable agriculture has become fundamental so the vines can provide the aromatic flavours needed to produce our champagnes. The respect of the environment with new methods, like the drop out of herbicides was an evidence and a priority for us. Following this path, we are practicing natural grass covers in our vineyard, which help with the blooming of our terroirs, improve our grapes maturity while bringing structure to our soil. By protecting this biodiversity, the typicity of our champagnes has developed and became purer thanks to our savoir-faire old of 300 years.

The house produces three different cuvées: Sollaris – a 100% Pinot Meunier using partly solera system, Argosa – rose made from 100% Pinot Meunier by saignée method and Trilisilece – a blend of co-fermented Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.
