History
In 1876 the Díez y Pérez de Muñoz brothers started a wine production business in Jerez. In 1892, their brother Francisco joined, creating “Díez Hermanos”; one year later, his Majesty King Alfonso XII granted them the honorary title of “Supplier to the Royal Family” and with this, the use of the “Royal Coat of Arms” on invoices and labels.
Later, the heirs of the founding partners purchased the “Marqués del Mérito” winery and merged them in 1979 with “Díez Hermanos” forming “DÍEZ-MÉRITO”. In 1985 Marcos Equizabal purchased the “Díez-Mérito” and “Bodegas Internacionales” wineries, to merge them with the "Federico Paternina” winery in La Rioja; this formed the wine production group with the same name “Federico Paternina” with cellars in the Protected designations of origin: Jerez, Rioja and Ribera del Duero.
"DÍEZ-MÉRITO”, is the name of the “Federico Paternina” cellars in Jerez. Cellars of restrained presence, such as Bertemati, evidence the knowledge of Jerez in every corner. Ranging from the gorgeous sacristy where wines are tasted, the various cellar segments consisting of arches and vaults, were the wine rest and age silently, to the patios and gardens that oxygenate the centennial Nurseries and Supports through doors and windows; all this performed by Arrumbadores: workers that for generations and through time have consecrated their lives to caring for wines, vinegars and brandies, with the sole purpose of "making the best wine in the World".
