History

According to archaeological finds in the region and written data, Vine-growing and Wine-producing were practiced since the antiquity. After the liberation from Ottoman yoke, the area of vineyards increased, wine-producing spread, wines and brandy trading emerged. At the exhibition in Antwerp Belgium in 1898 wine sort “Red Misket”, made from a local trader gets the first gold medal for white Bulgarian wine. After the First World War, the wine-producing developed furthermore, when export of draft wines to Germany started. After 1929, the local consumer cooperations built wineries in almost all of the villages in the area. The wineries in the villages of Slavyantsi, Grozden and Sungurlare became separate wine cooperations that existed until 1950. The enterprise produces wine and brandy in the region of the Sungurlare Valley, parts of the South wine region. The success is due to the combination of tradition and modern technologies.

Vineyards

“Vinex Slavyantsi” is located in the Sungurlare Valley, part of the sub-Balkan wine-growing region, the " Valley of Roses". The area is hilly, undulating with an altitude of 180 to 220 m. The annual rainfall is about 570 l/m2. Half of them fell during the vegetation period, which is 214 days. Winters are mild and summers are warm, with constant humidity throughout the year due to the proximity of the valley to the Black Sea and the Balkan Mountains. Weak air drainage in the Valley and on the slopes creates specific heat condition, where even in winter temperatures rarely fall below 0 ° C. The soils are light, sandy clay, maroon forest, with relatively low soil fertility. These conditions are favorable for producing quality grapes and wine.

The vineyards of “Vinex Slavyantsi” are about 7 000 decares and are located on the southern slopes of hills in the Valley. Behind the cultivation, processing and quality control of vineyards stand expert teams of agronomists oenologists, who apply the latest international practices and trends.

The sorts grown are:
  White:
Red Misket, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Muscat Ottonel, German Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Vyonnie, Pinot Gris, Gryner
