Wine Information
Vineyard: Seifried Rabbit Island Vineyard
Total Acidity: 7.4g/L
PH: 3.36
Residual Sugar: 4g/l
Alcohol: 14%
The Vineyard:
The Rabbit Island Vineyard is situated on a wide river flat. The soil is gravelly sandy loam, which is very sandy and free draining. These vineyards are about 1.5 kilometres from the sea, which helps moderate temperatures.
Vintage:
The 2013 fruit was harvested in optimal condition in separate parcels according to the age of the vine. All the fruit was harvested before the mid April rains commenced in Nelson. The grapes were then pressed, and the juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks to capture the natural tropical fruit characters of the grape variety, without influence from oak. The wine was blended and bottled in June 2013.
Winemaker's Tasting Note:
The 2013 Old Coach Road Unoaked Chardonnay is lovely and floral with pure stone fruit characters on the nose and palate. It has a taut natural minerally acidity character on the palate to run the length and leave a persisting impression.
