Written Notes

Curious name. Apparently, 'Black St Peters' was a name given to a variety grown on the East Coast of the States, more specifically around the Long Island region. When it went to California, it was discovered to be zinfandel. There is a school of thought that it originally arrived on the East Coast from England but things do get a little misty around the records back then.

McLaren Vale seems to do this peripatetic variety as well as anywhere in Australia, and this is a good'un.

Sweet black fruits dominate. Plenty of ripeness here. Intense with ripe chocolate-y notes. Backed by decent acidity, this has promise. But it is for those who enjoy a very big, full style of wine. If elegant pinot is your thing, leave this well alone.

15% alcohol which, while hefty, is not out of place for the variety and region. It works well enough here.
