Weingut Winter

In the middle of the landscape of hills in Rheinhessen the winery Winter is idyllically situated on the ground of the Kloppberg surrounded by vineyards. The vines of the family estate are growing there for generations, mainly on limey soils around the village Dittelsheim. These delicate wines do have finesse, soul and personality. Since 2013 the 20 hectare comprehensive winery of Stefan Winter is a member of the internationally recognized association of German Prädikatsweingüter (VDP). Besides Stefan Winter is sportily active in the football-club WEINELF of Germany.

The picturesque wine region Rheinhessen, unlike the name suggests, is not located on the right side of the Rhine in Hessen, it is situated on the left bank of the Rhine in Rhineland-Palatinate and summarizes three sections. One of them is the Wonnegau, which also includes the contemplative village Dittelsheim. The soil of the vineyards is characterized from limestone weathering and marly clay. The unit of soil, microclimate and craftsmanship creates wines with character, which tell their own story of origin in glass.

To show off each vineyard individually indicates the high standard of the winery Winter and implements this demand by the cultivation of classic grape varieties as Riesling and Pinot. Straight wines with a traditionally moderate alcohol content and a typical expression of the vintage grow out of precise and painstaking craftsmanship. The spontaneous fermentation underlines the origin of each vineyard and contributes significantly to the character of each wine.
