The Story

In the Middle Ages, when birds of prey were still commonly called "vultures", the hilly location with its deep clay marl soil was given the name Geiersberg, since the birds were particularly native there. Today, our Riesling vines feel at home in the south-facing Geiersberg and bask in the sun at an altitude of around 200 meters until the grapes are fully ripe and juicy in late autumn.

The style of our Grosses Gewächs is actually reminiscent of its feathery namesake: the body is full of structure, almost athletic like that of a vulture and as elegant as the birds fly through the air, our Riesling tastes so graceful and cool on the tongue. The Grosses Gewächs develops wonderfully in the glass and becomes more and more complex and profound, like a vulture spreading its wings.
