Written Notes

This wine was officially made as an exclusive house wine for three-Michelin-star restaurant Enoteca Pinchiorri in Florence. It was not until the 1996 vintage that Solare stepped out from exclusivity and became available on the domestic and international markets. The wine is based on Sangiovese grapes and has been aged for almost two years in French oak. Although it derives from the heart of Chianti Classico region in Gaiole, it is still labelled an IGT Tuscany wine due to its non-traditional vinification methods. Developed, medium-intense cherry red colour with brown tints. Wonderfully developed nose with nutty, leathery and cherry aromas and hints of violets and spiciness. The medium-bodied palate is completed by a fresh acidity, firm powdery tannins and moderately intense fruitiness with cherries and plums. Floral and spicy flavours with hints of earthiness and black olives. Very mineral, long, restrained finish – true Sangiovese terroir, the authentic style of Capannelle wines. Beautifully matured wine, which has a harmonious balance that will keep for few years before starting to decline.

D 3 h / G 3 h Mdeium-intense, brickj red colour with orange hue. Lovely evolving and complex nose with earthiness, sweet dark fruits, cherries, leather, flowers and chocolate. Broad medium-bodied, elegant taste with refreshing acidity. Silky tannins and smooth structure with sweet fruit tones of figs and cherries. Leathery tones in long finish. The wine has gained a fraction more of complexity and richness in last few years, but presumably reached it ultimate peak now since there is a hint of austerity at the very end of aftertaste.
