The Wine Advocate - "The 2015 Bastor-Lamontagne has a pure, honeyed, acacia-tinged bouquet that soars from the glass. The palate is well balanced with a sensual, honeyed texture, well-judged acidity and a smooth, quite concentrated finish. This is one of the best wines that I have tasted from the estate in recent years. Chapeau! Barrel Sample: 91-93 points"

The Story

Today the château is known as a source of excellent value. Its Sauternes are carefully fermented in a combination of steel tank and barrel, before being matured for 15 months in oak (25% new). The result is a sweet wine of the highest calibre - opulent, sweet, complex yet perfectly balanced. Savour with blue cheese or a creamy fruit tart.

 

The estate takes its name from Chevalier de la Montaigne, a councillor of the Bordeaux Parliament ...

Medium pale colour. Grapefruit, lime, honey, aniseed aromas. Sweet fleshy, pithy wine with generous lemon honey, aniseed flavours, bitter sweet notes, generous supple mid palate and tangy acidity. Medium viscosity and weight but very minerally and long. 93 points

Bright golden yellow colour. Aromatic nose with sweet apricots, nougat and hints of vanilla. On the palate rich, with sweet fruit, opulent flavour and mild acidity.
