Wine Description
The Story
Balancing sophistication and elegance.
Cockburn’s Late Bottled Vintage Port is a great and complex wine that we have aged here in our cellars in seasoned wood. We are very careful about the grapes we pick. We only make our LBV from grapes taken from the best vineyards in the Douro Superior, high up in the Eastern reaches of the Douro Valley. The ripeness of the grapes, because of the hot, dry summers we have in Portugal, gives our Port its rich, intense black fruit flavours. While the hints of mint and rockrose serve as a reminder of the exceptional and unique conditions we have in the Douro.
Ageing
Our people in the Lodge age the wine partly in large seasoned oak vats and partly in small barrels. This encourages our Port to mature and gives it the tasty complexity that you can only get with age.
How to Serve
Take the bottle. Open it. Pour it into a glass. Drink slowly. Relish it. Now pour yourself another one... But seriously – it couldn’t be easier to serve our LBV Port. It has a stopper cork, which you can pull out by hand. There is no need to decant. And it will stay fresh for up to six weeks once you’ve opened it.
Food pairing
Serve it after dinner or lunch, when you want to celebrate or just relax with family and friends. It is also perfect with strong cheeses. Serve at room temperature or slightly cooler if it’s warm.
